Lauren's Blueberry, Avocado, Kale Shake


For those who don't know me, I am getting ready for a big move from Ft .Collins, CO to Austin, TX in a few weeks. This compounded with the lots of stressors in my life have attracted me a nice little cough that keeps me awake at all hours of the night. I am so not in the mood for chewing right now and I remembered the primal shakes I saw on Mark Sisson's web site so I decided to make one of my own with lots of good stuff.

This shake combines the refreshing taste of blueberries and the dense nutrient packed power of kale... with a lemon twist. It was just what I was looking for. 



Here's what you need:

1 cup frozen blueberries
1/2 cup kale, off the stem
1/2 avocado
squeeze of lemon
1/4 cup coconut milk*
1/4 cup water*
1 scoop whey protein

*Can substitute with almond milk. ( actually next time I make this I think I will)


Boil the kale for 1 min to make it easier to blend. Add all the ingredients in a blender. Drink up!

  1. Mmmm, I had practically the same thing this morning, but with spinach instead of kale and no lemon. The avocado makes it nice & creamy.
