What amazes me about all these austin trailers is that the food is not "trailer-y" at all. Most of them are very well thought out, chef inspired meals, even if they aren't primal ( ahem... Gourgoughs) . Austinites love their food, and they want it to be creative and fun. The trailers deliver.
Odd Duck stuck out to me because of it's local ingredients ( the menu changes daily/seasonally in fact), and it's presence of mostly primal items and lots of grilled veggies.
Some of the offerings for May 1st include
- grilled asparagus with soft boiled duck egg and goat ricotta
- roasted brussel sprouts with capers and rabbit belly
- slow cooked pork leg with sweet onion and kale salad
- grilled quail with farm potatoes, salumi and aioli
Go on and feast on your primal fare at the Odd Duck on 1219 South Lamar @ Lamar Square.
